Introduction to Education/Special Needs Children

This course is designed to introduce foundations of education material to the beginner in teacher education. It includes the procedures and practices of Pre-Christian, Early Christian, Medieval, Renaissance, Colonial, and Modern periods. The educational philosophies and educators of these periods, as well as current trends in public and private education in America, are reviewed. Also, how these philosophies and trends affect learners with special needs, are examined. Field experience is required.
